I am a 35 year old Colorado native. I live in a small hidden gem of a town called Ridgway, nestled right at the base of the San Juans. I spent the last 3 years working coordinating different aspects of bike tours and races, and through that, became motivated to start cycling myself. I started this blog to share my experience, and hopefully motivate others to join me in my pursuit, and for those who already share the love of cycling to reach out and encourage others to be a part of the community.
The cycling community is one of the best groups of people I have ever met. Their overall love for the sport in every aspect is amazing, and I have never been happier in a career than I am working within the cycling industry. I love working with groups and foundations who are striving to bring a new generation to the sport. One of my big motivations is to get my daughter, Hailey, age 12, into the sport, whether it be road, mountain or cross, and instill in her a lifelong love for a sport that can take her anywhere she wants to go.
I started riding on a Trek 2200 I borrowed and then bought (well, my dad bought for me) whom I have named Zelda, as well as a secondhand Vantuyl cross bike, O-Ren Ishii, that you see in the snow and mud pics from on my posts. In addition, I have a Specialized Enduro 29″ full suspension mountain bike, which repealed my Trek Lush SL 29″ this spring, and have added a used full carbon Trek Madone road bike to the family. All are proof that while the latest and greatest bikes are fun and would be sweet to ride, you can have a blast on any bike. It’s about the ride, not the equipment.
Please join me in my adventures! I love feedback, and would love for my readers to share with me their advice, stories, experiences and just sheer love for the sport!
